Iron Horse Trader is an online auction marketplace that connects buyers and sellers of pre-owned equipment for golf courses, sports fields, or any other large turf areas that require large commerical maintenance equipment. Buyers and sellers on this website are typically golf course superintendents, sports field managers, facility administrators, public works managers, as well as new and used turf maintnenance equipment dealers. Old equipment is eventually replaced with a newer models over time. The old equipment is usually used as a trade-in to off-set the cost of the new equipment. Dealers then try to recover the costs of the trade-in to make a profit on the new equipment. This auction website offers sellers a place to list their used equipment for free and buyers a safe, secure website to purchase the items for free with no fees. Sellers pay a 10 % end of item fee when the item sells.
Listings typically have a duration of 180 days (although this can be extended if the item does not sell). The duration changes to 7 days and counts down according once the first bid is placed.
Asking Price: The asking price is a "Buy-it-Now" price. The seller agrees to sell the item IMMEDIATELY to a bidder who bids this price.
Reserve Price: The reserve price is the minimum amount the seller will accept for the item. The seller agrees to sell the item to the high bidder UPON THE 180 DAY LISTING EXPIRATION if the bidding has reached or exceeded this price. The reserve price is not published but buyers can see whether or not is has been met.
Bidding on equipment: The minimum acceptable bid for items on this site is determined by the seller and is shown below the item description. Bidders may bid anything they wish above the minimum. There is no restriction against the current high bidder raising his bid.
Selling Equipment: This website is open to the public to list surplus equipment for sale.
To list equipment, one must first register. Once you are registered, you can advertise your used equipment. All equipment is being sold in "as is" condition. Sellers are required to give an honest description of the item being sold and answer any questions the buyer may have during the auction.
Please take note of the following:
- Buyers are responsible for arranging and payment for shipping. The seller is responsible for loading equipment onto the buyer's truck, unless otherwise noted.
- Sales are subject to inspection. The buyer is given 3 days after the acceptance of his bid to inspect the merchandise at the seller's location and may refuse it upon inspection. After 3 Days, all sales are final.
